Guatemala Water Pipeline
Hydraulic design of a 3.1 km gravity line carrying spring water to a new tank in Nebaj, Guatemala, modeled in EPANET on a 95-station survey.
I’m Miles, a civil engineering student at USC. I’m working toward better quality of life in cities through infrastructure, public space, and real estate development.

From reimagining a street to protecting a neighborhood, I like turning a useful question into something you can explore.

From school essays to ongoing rail research, I’m exploring how infrastructure and development can improve everyday life in cities.
Exploring the connections between greener campuses, student well-being, and the learning environment.
Considering how public-space design can make room for connection across cultures.
Research in progress on expanding rail through existing corridors, selective electrification, and station-area real estate development.
At USC I’m part of four student organizations across civil engineering, transportation, and real estate.
Guatemala team
We’re designing a 3.1 km gravity water line from a spring to a new tank for Vicampanavitz, a community of about 80 households in Nebaj, Guatemala. I modeled the line in EPANET 2.2 on our 95-station survey to size the pipe and pick pressure classes.

We’re redesigning Hollywood Boulevard. I built StreetForge to help: an editable 2D street plan where the team can lay out lanes, transit, greenery, and public space for the corridor.

I’m meeting with real estate professionals and gaining insight into the industry, building toward my minor in real estate development.

We’re looking into LA Metro ridership behavior, which builds on my year on the Metro Youth Council.
I’m studying civil engineering at USC Viterbi, with an intended minor in real estate development.
Growing up in Los Angeles made me curious about the infrastructure around me: the trains, bridges, streets, and networks that hold a city together. It also made me aware of how much we ask of those systems when something goes wrong.
I want to connect safer streets, reliable transportation, greenery, and welcoming public spaces with the value created by thoughtful development. By bringing engineering, design, and real estate together, I hope to make better places financially achievable and put that value back into the communities around them.
My ultimate goal is to improve quality of life in cities, with real estate development helping subsidize the infrastructure and public spaces that make everyday life better.
Installation & project support
Completed full installations across about 10 commercial, government, and educational facilities, and supported project management on tenant-improvement projects from material receipt to installation.
Owner
Started and ran my own window washing business, building a base of about 20 clients through door-to-door outreach.
Selected participant
Competitively selected for a city-convened assembly; contributed recommendations on the city’s budget-making process alongside residents from different backgrounds.
Advisory board member
Competitively selected to meet monthly with Metro LA department leads; developed peer recommendations on system safety, homelessness, and crime reduction.
Participant
Researched green space and academic focus, then presented the findings and advocated for school green-space funding to Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager in Washington, D.C.
Service & academics
Presidential Volunteer Service Award, 3-time recipient (2022, 2023, 2024). California Scholarship Federation and Honor Roll, 8 semesters.
